Academic tests will be held on Saturday 16th of November, 2024 at 9am. Interviews and auditions for the other scholarships will be held prior to Friday 29th November. Students are asked to present portfolios showcasing their achievements.

Year 7 Scholarships
MacKillop Catholic College offers several scholarships to students entering Year 7 each year. Scholarships provide 50% reduction in student tuition fees (not including levies) for the first year of Secondary Education (Year 7). Scholarships will be awarded for outstanding achievement in the following areas:
- Academic
- Citizenship & Public Speaking
- Instrumental Music & Culture
- Visual Arts
- Performing Arts
- Sport
Those intending to apply for a scholarship must fill out an application form, attend an interview, and attend auditions where applicable.
The 2024 round for scholarships for the 2025 Academic Year is now open.
Prospective Year 7 students may apply for the following scholarships:
Academic
An Academic Scholarship is available to students entering Year 7. This scholarship is awarded on the basis of a test administered by the Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER), an interview during which the student will be asked to present a portfolio and the latest progress report from the student’s present school. It covers a 50% reduction in tuition fees for Year 7 and is conditional on continued academic achievement and excellent behaviour. The top three candidates will be interviewed for one scholarship. The interview panel will consist of the Acting Assistant Principal – Curriculum (Chair), Board Representation, Year Coordinator and a Classroom Teacher.
Citizenship & Public Speaking
Based on its strong commitment to the wider community, MacKillop Catholic College offers a Citizenship & Public Speaking Scholarship each year. It covers a 50% reduction on tuition fees for Year 7 and is conditional on continued academic achievement and excellent behaviour. This scholarship is available to students entering Year 7. This scholarship is awarded on the basis of an interview during which the student will be asked to present a portfolio outlining their community involvement, the latest progress report from the student’s present school, give a two-minute speech on a topic, and a reference from their present School Principal. The interview panel will consist of the Assistant to the Principal Religious Education (Chair), Parish Priest, Board Representation, Year Coordinator, and a College Captain.
Instrumental Music & Culture
An Instrumental Music Scholarship is awarded each year to an incoming Year 7 student who proficiently plays a musical instrument. It covers a 50% reduction in tuition fees for Year 7 and is conditional on continued academic achievement and excellent behaviour. It is awarded on the basis of an audition and an interview. During their interview students will need to demonstrate their strong interest/involvement in the area of Instrumental Music and play a piece of music of their choice. The interview team will consist of The Instrumental Music Coordinator (Chair), Classroom Music Coordinator, Board Representation, and a Local Musician.
Visual Arts
A Visual & Performing Arts Scholarship is awarded each year to an incoming Year 7 student who demonstrates aptitude in the area of Visual Arts. This scholarship is available to students entering Year 7. It covers a 50% reduction in tuition fees for Year 7 and is conditional on continued academic achievement and excellent behaviour. It is awarded on the basis of a portfolio of work and an interview. During their interview students will need to demonstrate their strong interest/involvement in the area of Visual Arts and bring with them some of their work. The interview panel will consist of The Visual Arts Coordinator (Chair), Acting Assistant Principal – Curriculum, and a Local Artist.
Performing Arts
A Performing Arts Scholarship is awarded each year to an incoming Year 7 student who demonstrates aptitude in the area of Performing Arts other than Instrumental Music. This scholarship is available to students entering Year 7. It covers a 50% reduction in tuition fees for Year 7 and is conditional on continued academic achievement and excellent behaviour. It is awarded on the basis of an audition and an interview. During their interview students will need to demonstrate their strong interest/involvement in the area of Performing Arts other than Instrumental Music. The interview panel will consist of the Performing Arts Coordinator (Chair), Acting Assistant Principal – Curriculum, a Local Performer, and Board Representation.
Sport
A Sporting Scholarship is available to students entering Year 7 who demonstrate sporting prowess. This scholarship is awarded on the basis of an interview during which the student will be asked to present a portfolio outlining their sporting involvement, a reference from their sporting coach and the latest progress report from the student’s present school. It covers a 50% reduction in tuition fees for Year 7 and is conditional on continued academic achievement and excellent behaviour. The interview panel will consist of the Sports Coordinator (Chair), PE Coordinator, Board Representation, a Local Sportsman or Woman and a senior student from the SRC.
