Tenure

  • Year 7 entry: Year 7 only
  • Year 10 entry: Years 10-12 inclusive

Value

$5000 per annum, credited to school fees billing account.

Schedule

  • Monday, Term 1 Week 1: Scholarship applications open for the following year
  • Friday, Term 3 Week 10: Deadline for scholarship applications for the following year
  • Term 4 Week 1: Academic testing
  • Term 4 Week 2: Auditions
  • Term 4 Week 3: Shortlisting and interviews
  • Monday, Term 4 Week 4: Formal offers are made for scholarships for the following year
  • Friday, Term 4 Week 5: Deadline for acceptance of offers and payment of enrolment acceptance fee (for external students).

Review Process

Retention of any scholarship is conditional upon the recipient maintaining exemplary behaviour, high attendance rates, full participation in College life, and meeting the specific performance benchmarks outlined below.

Scholarship Offerings

 Academic Scholarship

The MacKillop Catholic College Academic Scholarship recognises and rewards students who demonstrate exceptional intellectual capability, critical thinking, and a profound passion for learning. This scholarship is designed for scholarly minded individuals who are driven to achieve academic excellence and who will actively contribute to the intellectual life of the College. Recipients are expected to be role models in the classroom, demonstrate a growth mindset, and lead peer-led academic initiatives, inspiring a culture of high expectations and deep inquiry across the school community.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Open to entering Year 7 and Year 10 students (both internal and external candidates).
  • Consistently high academic achievement demonstrated through school reports and standardised testing instruments (NAPLAN, PAT testing and similar).

Selection Process

  1. Objective Testing: Candidates must sit a formal Scholarship Test hosted on-campus.
  2. Portfolio Review: Submission of most recent school report and the latest NAPLAN and PAT test (Reading and Numeracy) results.
  3. Interview: Shortlisted candidates will be invited to a panel interview with the Deputy Principal – Academic Studies, Head of Middle/Senior Years Curriculum and an academic Head of Faculty.

Performance Benchmarks for Retention

  • Maintain an overall GPA of ‘A’ or ‘B’ (or equivalent ranking) across all core subjects.
  • Active participation in extension programs (e.g., Rostrum Public Speaking, Lego League, debating etc).
  • Adherence to the College’s academic integrity policy with zero infractions.

MacKillop Saints Sporting Scholarship

The MacKillop Saints Sporting Scholarship celebrates outstanding athletic talent, leadership, and a commitment to the spirit of fair play. While Rugby League and Rugby Union represent the primary focal disciplines of the College’s sporting program, applications from high-calibre athletes across all sporting fields are highly valued and will be fully considered. Rooted in our vibrant sports culture, this scholarship supports student-athletes who perform at an elite level in their chosen discipline(s) while demonstrating sportsmanship and dedication to team cohesion. Recipients are expected to represent the College with pride, serve as captains or mentors within the College’s sports programs, and maintain a rigorous balance between their athletic pursuits and academic responsibilities.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Open to entering Year 7 and Year 10 students (both internal and external candidates).
  • Representation at a regional, Territory (NT), or national level in an approved sport preferred.
  • A documented record of positive sportsmanship and leadership within their current club or school team.

Selection Process

  1. Application Portfolio: Submission of a sports resume outlining achievements, times, rankings, and a coach’s reference verifying the student’s skill level and attitude.
  2. Practical Assessment: Where applicable, candidates may be observed during a training session or match by the Director of Rugby, Sports Coordinator and/or Head of Health & Physical Education.
  3. Interview: Shortlisted candidates will interview with the Director of Rugby, Sports Coordinator and/or Head of Health & Physical Education evaluate their capacity to balance playing and training schedules with academic demands.

Performance Benchmarks for Retention

  • Active participation and leadership in all major College sports carnivals (Swimming, Athletics, Cross Country).
  • Consistent selection in and commitment to MacKillop Saints teams for their primary disciplines.
  • Maintenance of satisfactory academic progress and a minimum school attendance rate of 90%.

Arts and Culture Scholarship

The Arts and Culture Scholarship honours creativity, artistic excellence, and cultural leadership. This pathway is dedicated to students who possess exceptional skills in Music, Visual Arts, Drama, Dance, Media or other related disciplines, alongside an authentic desire to enrich the cultural fabric of MacKillop Catholic College. Recipients are seen as creative ambassadors who will drive performance and exhibition standards, mentor younger students in the arts, and actively use their creative gifts to enhance College liturgies, community events, and public showcases.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Open to entering Year 7 and Year 10 students (both internal and external candidates).
  • Demonstrated high proficiency in at least one artistic discipline (e.g., eisteddfod music, formal dance training, a curated visual arts portfolio).
  • Evidence of participation in school or community-based arts events, festivals, or exhibitions.

Selection Process

  1. Portfolio / Audition Submission:
    1. Music/Drama/Dance: A live audition or a high-quality video recording of two pieces/performances.
    2. Visual/Digital Arts: A physical or digital portfolio featuring 5 to 7 original works.
    3. Other disciplines: Via negotiation.
  2. Interview: Head of the Arts, House Coordinator and one Senior Arts Faculty teacher to discuss their creative influences and how they envision contributing to the College’s performance and cultural calendar.

Performance Benchmarks for Retention

  • Enrolment in an Arts elective subject each semester (where scheduling permits).
  • Mandatory participation in major College performances, ensembles, choirs, or exhibitions.
  • Contribution of creative work or performance in College, community and/or liturgical events.

Decisions made by the Selection Committee are final, and no further correspondence or breakdown of individual testing/audition scores will be entered into with applicants or external parties.
